Shopify is an ecommerce platform and one of the best out there in my opinion. Shopify was built for the average person to be able to build and design there own online store without any technical skills needed.

Shopify has also made it very affordable for anyone to use. There first plan starts at $29/month which is extremely affordable. They do have 2 more plans which go up to $79/month and $299/month for more advanced options. Shopify gives everyone a 14-day free trial which gives you plenty of time to set up your store and to make it look amazing.

If you are looking to starting an ecommerce business, Shopify is the platform you should definitely use. This is a great way to start making your first dollar online and even make a full time living from the comfort of your home.

I might mention that I did just remember that Shopify does have a Shopify Lite plan for $9/month. This allows you too Sell on Facebook and chat with your customers on Messenger, add products to any website or blog, and accept credit card payments. Please note that this plan doesn't allow you to create a online store though.

Where can I get my 14-day free trial of Shopify?

How do the company Shopify get started?

Shopify was founded in 2004 by Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake after they attempted to open a online store for snowboarding equipment called Snowdevil. They were quickly unsatisfied with the existing e-commerce products on the market so they starting building their own. So Lutke being the computer programmer built their online store using ruby and had it launched after 2 months of development.

Fast forward to June of 2006 and the Snowdevil founders launched the platform as Shopify. Then in 2009, Shopify launched an API platform and app store. the API allows developer to create apps that can be used to sell on the Shopify app stores.

Then we move to 2010 where Shopify created their very own mobile app which allowed Shopify store owners to view and manage their stores form their mobile devices. Shopify them launched their own Build-A-Business competition where the winners would receive cash prizes and more. Shopify quickly became named Ottawa's fastest growing company in the Ottawa Business Journal in 2010.

In 2013 Shopify announced the launch of Shopify operations which allowed merchants to accept credit cards without requiring a third party payment gateway. Then, on to 2014 where they had approximately 120,000 online retailers.

In january of 2017, Shopify announced integration with Amazon would allow merchants to sell on Amazon with their Shopify stores. In 2017 they also introduced a bluetooth enabled credit and debit card reader for brick and mortar retail purchases.
